The Pantry, Edinburgh
You’re not allowed out of Edinburgh without having visited The Pantry at least once. Run by husband and wife Chris and Charlotte Thompson, it’s big on breakfast and famous for its waffles (try the banoffee ones).
Don’t be surprised if you hear people talking in breathy tones up at the castle about their eggs Benedict with thyme, fennel and marmalade-roasted ham.
Rooooooooothash: Lardons, salsiccia, assorted roots, spring onion, kale, Jerusalem artichoke, grana padano, green herb oil and a fried duck egg, £9.50.
