Forget soggy pizza in a box. A pizza fresh from the wood oven is the real deal, as we Brits are discovering. Pizza ovens are the hit of the summer, with even Aldi getting a pizza the action, selling a £99 version this weekend (it’s already sold out online).

But, with the range of ovens available growing ever more bewildering, which is the best one for you? According to wood-burning oven expert David Jones, who, with his wife Holly runs courses at the Manna from Devon cookery school, the first question to ask yourself is: “What are you going to use it for? Is it just for pizza, or will you be making bread, roasting meat and slow cooking?” They aren’t all ideal for everything.”
