Of the many exciting things about the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast is the chance to see some of the original film's most memorable outfits come to life, from the Beast's frilly cravat to Belle's blue apron. It's an excitement mirrored by star Emma Watson, who in this exclusive clip shares her joy at working with British costume designer Jacqueline Durran to reinterpret the animated costumes for reality.

"You end up with something that references the animation, but has moved on from the animation and is particular to this film," Durran says.

The Academy Award-winning costume designer, whose work can be seen in films including Pride & Prejudice, Atonement and Mr. Turner, also reveals the secret methods employed to replicate Belle's iconic yellow ballgown.

"We wanted the dress to feel like it could float," Watson teases.

Beauty and the Beast, in all its colourful, live-action glory, arrives in cinemas March 17.
